About Izwi LoMzansi
Izwi LoMzansi 98.0fm is a KwaZulu Natal based Community Radio Station. It is a Talk based station with 60% Talk and 40% Music quota. It is also known as Izwi98fm on social networks.
Founded in 1998, Izwi LoMzansi broadcasts to the Greater eThekwini Metropolitan municipality and surrounding areas and towns. We started transmitting in 1999 through short term licenses until a permanent licence was granted by ICASA – SA’s licensing authority. Since then the station has grown to become the leading station in terms of listener-ship across community radio stations in the province.
Our primary business is 60% Talk and 40% Music. Content focused on information, entertainment, music and talk radio station targeting audiences in the 24-49 and 16-35 age groups.
Izwi LoMzansi identifies with its listeners by way of a target-oriented content mix, and, through quality programming, we also aim to satisfy listeners’ needs in order to maintain majority market share. As a market leader in the community broadcast arena in KZN, Izwi LoMzansi sets the pace and trend for today’s audience in community radio.
Apart from the thought-provoking content in topic discussions, the station’s programming is predominantly driven by educational talk-oriented content, with informative presenters on-air.

Izwi LoMzansi broadcasts around the clock – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
AD MATERIAL & INPUT
We schedule three adverts per break. We use MP3 and CDs.
There is a talk and music quota of 60% and 40% respectively with local music constituting 80% of the playlist. Contemporary Talk and Current Affairs are the daily features of the station programming.
We broadcast throughout the Greater Ethekwini Municipality and surroundings. There are transmission spillages reaching as far south as Port Shepstone, Eshowe in the north, and reaching in-land as far as Cato Ridge.
FORMAT & POSITIONING
We are a community venture that broadcasts daily issues faced by the Greater Ethekwini Municipality residents. Our primary target audience are males and females within the age group 16-79.
